Police Protection
Orion is known for some of the best police protection and one of the lowest crime rates in the area.
Since 1981, the community has enjoyed police services contracted from the Henry County Sheriff's Department. Two full-time officers are assigned to duty in Orion, with part-time officers filling in the remaining shifts.
Full-time officers currently assigned to Orion are Pat Coppejans and Chad Baze. These officers bring many years of experience to the job.
Police presence not only deters crime but provides good enforcement of local ordinances, such as junk vehicles, animal control, and parking issues, and the officers have consistent interaction with the school district.
Call 911 for emergency police service. For non-emergency service, dial 526.3403.
Community Parks
Orion has two parks, each featuring a different atmosphere. Central Park is located at 12th Avenue and 5th Street, while Love Park is located at 12th Avenue and 16th Street.
Picnic shelters at both parks can be reserved for your family event. You must contact Village Hall at 526-8139 to make your reservation.
Main Street Orion, a community preservation and renewal organization, sponsors a summer concert series in Central Park featuring family entertainment for all. Enjoy free concert and movie nights along with a variety of other entertainment that has included jazz, blue grass, country, and an Elvis impersonator.
