ANNUAL DRINKING WATER QUALITY REPORT
You can obtain the details of Orion's most recent Annual Drinking Water Quality Report by clicking on the link below. This report was also made available as an insert to the village's June edition of The Nosy Neighbor newsletter.
If you have questions pertaining to the Annual Drinking Water Quality Report, contact village hall (309-526-8139) and ask for Water Superintendent Arnie Sandberg.
CREDIT AND DEBIT CARD PAYMENTS ACCEPTED
The village accepts credit and debit card payments for water and sewer bills, building permits, and recreational vehicle (UTV/golf cart) permits. A fee of 2.65% or $3 minimum will be charged for each transaction. Payments are accepted at the village hall, over the phone, and online at the following link: https://secure.municipay.com/payapp/public/ECSale.html?iteId=x6rzuwsc5q&urlKey=540301520406bb04b6920170f7e94fc3&deptId=x6rzuwsc5q.
RECREATIONAL VEHICLE PERMITS
Recreational vehicle permit applications are available under the Downloads/General tab. The application and inspection for your recreational vehicle is an annual process. Triple E performs the inspection. All completed paperwork must be delivered to the village hall for verification of insurance by a sheriff's deputy. Papers can be left in the drop box near the front door along with payment of $50 (or use our convenient credit/debit card option listed above). Village staff will contact you upon approval.
Important rules: Drivers of recreational vehicles must pull over to let regular vehicular traffic go by, and recreational vehicles are meant only for street use - they cannot be driven in Orion's parks. Also, no one under the age of 18 can drive recreational vehicles on the street.
WAIVER OF FEES EXTENDED TO 2023
In September of 2018, village board members voted to extend a waiver of building permit and water and sewer connection fees for new construction in the Prairie Knoll subdivision west of Hwy. Rt. 150. The extension is good through September of 2023.
Construction of a $250,000 house could result in a savings of more than $3,000.

An Option for E-Waste
Eagle Enterprises Recycling, Inc. is pleased to announce the opening of an electronics collection site at its facility in Galva. Beginning January 2012, the number of electronic items banned at landfills will be expanded, making it ever more difficult to dispose of those televisions, computer monitors, printers, and the like.
Electronic recyclables cannot be combined with residential recyclables, so DO NOT put electronics in your curbside bin. Electronics can only be disposed of by transporting them to 510 S. E. Industrial Avenue, Galva, during Eagle's business hours of 6:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 7:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Saturdays. There is a charge for televisions and computer monitors: screens 27" or less are $5, 28" or more are $10, console t.v.s are $10, and rear projection t.v.s are $20.
Don't Miss Your Chance to Recycle Curbside
Curbside recycling is available to all single family homes in Orion. To obtain a roll-out container, call Eagle Enterprises Recycling at 1.888.932.2936. The company will deliver the container directly to your house. Pick up is every other Thursday. You can find the pickup dates by clicking on our calendar tab at the top of this page or get a copy at Village Hall.
The fee to participate is $4.48 per month and is automatically added to your monthly utility bill. Seniors who qualify for the senior property tax freeze through the Henry County Assessor's office will not be charged the fee. The assessor's office will provide an updated list to the Village once per year.
